For those who don't know, Google is applying a new rule which penalizes websites that aren't ready for smartphones, that means that your old theme may put you at the bottom of the list in Google results. As you know Search Engines are how most of users find your website, that's why it's important to obey those demands to keep your website alive and responding. It's also important to give your mobile users the best experience you can give them, as nowadays these devices are quite common, so giving a good experience to all users connecting from them should be a priority for any webmaster.

What can I do about this?

It's quite simple, here in SMFPacks we have 8 responsive themes which are going to do the job just fine, this themes are going to look equally nice in desktops as they look on mobile devices! That means that your entire website is going to have the same look & feel.

We also have released a mod which allows you to select a theme to work like the default theme only for mobile devices! This also works for Google's rule and is going to keep your old theme working for desktop users.

Here you can view our responsive themes: SMFPacks Themes

How bad it is?

Just see the screenshot, websites without responsive design are punished that bad!

Where can I read more about this rule?

You can read about this new rule here: http://www.qarea.com/articles/google-dictates-new-rules-responsive

Good points. But... where is the theme switcher mod you mention?

Cheers

It's private, for those who own a theme. It's also included in the SMFPacks SEO Pro Mod: SMFPacks SEO Pro Mod

What happens with photos that have been posted on a forum in the past that have a fixed pixel width?
For example there are hundreds of photos on my forum and most are about 1000 pix wide. Will these not cancel out a responsive theme layout?
Best wishes

If you want to keep them like now there is just one little CSS tweak required to achieve, otherwise they'll be responsive images too.

looking at the darkly theme, very tempted i must say. however i would have to modify the CSS a fair bit to fit our colour scheme. once purchased do you allow this?

are any elements coded to real images? for example are the buttons actually images or just plain CSS

you can see what i mean here
http://www.anarchygaming.uk/Forum/index.php < all text would have to be red for a example

Buttons are CSS, and sure you can modify the CSS to have a different color scheme. Open a ticket please if you need info about it.

all active with your sexy shoutbox pro too :)
the most annoying thing a "feature" or what i call a bug is the hiding buttons on posts to quote. it hovers up fine but goes away so fast. i had to turn it off people moaned so much. it took me 20 attempts to actually hit it also
I suggest you slow down the hiding in a future update, I turned it off for now.

From Admin, Current Theme you can disable that effect.

yeh i did before you posted, but it might be worth slowing it down as it many of my members found it tottaly un-usable. Over than that its a great theme with great customisation. love the list instead of droplist feature
