How it's done?

This is the best part, your simply need to submit the link and the mod is going to automatically convert it into the Multimedia Content which needs to be embedded based on the domain! In this post the following link was posted:

Yeah, there used to be a few mods that did that, but they stopped working years ago so if you could implement it you'd have the monopoly in this area

From what I see indeed they don't have a standard embedding mechanism, but that was just from a cursory look I took.

Unfortunately that remains the case, it doesn't seems to be something that could be property implemented for all eBay products.

Too bad  I prefer not to lose hope yet! Could it be done in a manual sort of way? Meaning, dynamically pull elements from a page and present them?

Other request: could we be able to set the dimensions of the embed? Would be useful for some types of media, like YT videos (though less useful for others, like tweets)!

It could be done, but it's not recommended since eBay could change their code or structure and break the entire thing. About setting sizes, I'll see if can be added and how it would be implemented since most sites don't allow such a setting.

As for the size, I think that just doing it fro a basic few would be enough. All the embedders I've seen do it for YT, Vimeo and possibly others so it may be easily feasible?

Yes, that's indeed something much more doable, added to the feature requests list
