Hello,

Today we've started to move our services to LoloHosting.com, we're delighted with this new provider as it seems to be reliable, fast, and affordable. As a part of the new deal, we're promoting their hosting services with a 15% of discount on any hosting order using the coupon: smfpacks

Give it a look to their hosting plans, and please let us know about any issues caused by this change to our website.

The site seems a lot faster.

What are the default settings for memory limits in PHP.ini, specifically memory_limit, post_max_size, and upload_max_filesize? What version of PHP do they use? Are they strictly a shared hosting service, or do they offer VPS?

I currently use Dreamhost shared hosting and I've been with them since early 2011. The default settings they use for memory_limit (90MB), post_max_size (8MB) and upload_max_filesize (7MB) are too restrictive and can cause the 'white screen of death' on SMF 2.0.7 installs. Most hosting companies now offer 128MB or even 256MB memory limits for shared hosting and Dreamhost seems stuck in 2004. Their starting VPS service only has 300MB to work with.

Right now, two of my websites (both SMF installs) are down because they refuse to address an Apache configuration issue on their side - which causes slow response and 500/503 errors. They reboot the Apache instance and the problem is fixed for a few weeks, but the site slows down and eventually starts throwing 500/503 error messages again. They claim their technicians are working on a 'bullet-proof' Apache install to address the 'flaw', but offer no ETA for the fix.

They also keep the databases on a different physical server. In my case, the Apache server is in California and the database server is in Virginia. That causes significant latency problems and delays when accessing the database. Plus, it doubles the chances of down time which seems to be happening more often. I'm averaging 91% up-time on my most active website due to their incompetence and crash-prone, slow, network architecture.

DreamHost is an overseller. You shouldn't be using any of their services. LoloHosting indeed looks really good so far; however, it seems like they are only selling shared hosting services right now. I haven't seen our PHP version, you could contact them to know it: contact@lolohosting.com.

You can indeed increase php.ini values within CPanel, we've 128 working just fine, haven't tried more.
