I have a forum site which I want to use SMFPack theme,particularly, INFORMATIVE RESPONSIVE THEME. But can I customise  the informative theme using the menu editor? or if I have the menu editor, purchasing a theme is not necessary?

The menu editor allows you to modify the menu buttons, but if you want style changes you will need to do them with CSS/JS!
