I wanted to know if adding other video services such as tumblr is possible in the media gallery system? Or is it possible for me to add different services I see fit for my sites?

It's possible, but it must be custom coded. I'm rewriting the entire gallery and it'll be easier after the re-build is done, but I don't have an estimate of how long could it take. In the current version you need to add the embed directly.

If I was to purchase the mod over the next couple weeks, would the update be done within the next year? During my renewal?

Yes, there's a beta version already!
